Movie On 2022

Post is ready with all sections verified and yes, have read about each of below films. Festival has about 400 films and below list has most of them.  Sections listed with films have ALL films (features and shorts, if applicable) and Forum has some additional older films that interested me. There are many films that I'm looking forward to watch, which have exponentially increased my viewing queue, sigh.  No doubt this year Berlinale Competition is very interesting with films of well-known directors -which is always welcomed as believe newcomers should debut in fests other than-competitition sections, unless their film is outstanding... In about a week the fest will began and yes, I'm starting to feel sad as will miss Kosslick and his pleasant larger than life casual personality.  But will try to enjoy him for one last time during the festival.  Wonder if he leaves, will fun-to-watch (in a very dark way) Anke Engelke leave too?  The chemistry these two had was lik...

Last Sunday the guild had their awards ceremony and after unremarkable not entertaining  "red" carpet -that wasn't red, pretended to be silver but was dirty-gray- with so many not-really-known or popular actors announced not really surprising winners as lost-of-interest came from the moment the guild announced the nominations.  Sigh. By now we know that SAG nominees were quite different to Oscar nominees, so I'm hoping SAG winners do not reflect much what Oscar winners could be.  As a matter of fact some industry pundits are already talking about Oscar winners and indeed they seem to pretend SAG awards didn't happened this year. Sigh. Yesterday the first guild to announce winners had their awards ceremony and officially there is a new Oscar frontrunner as top PGA winner is seen as an Oscar bellwether as has matched AMPAS top award 20 times in the 29 years the award has been giving out awards. The PGA has about 8,200 members and most are AMPAS members too so unless 2019 becomes an edition when winners do not match, like what happened when guild honored La La Land and The Big Short, Green Book could win Oscars' top award.  This is another year where film critics/journalists and industry tend to not agree but particularly this year I wish the could as yes, I root for Roma as I'm rooting for the industry to accept how much has already changed as power has been transferred from movie distributors (i.e. theaters) to audiences.  Now we choose where do we want to watch a movie and gee, we have many options, isn't? Yesterday the group had their awards ceremony and my first impression is that they gave too-many awards which perhaps is consequence of having too-many nominees in some categories.  Was not able to watch show live, but probably will do later today. Critics spread their honors among several films as even when the big winner of the night is Roma the nomination to wins ratio is low, as had 14 nominations and got 4, the most of the night.  Yes, Roma got Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Foreign Language film.  Black Panther and Vice followed with 3 wins each. As previously announced, Best Supporting Actress nominee Claire Foy received the Critics’ Choice #SeeHer Award, which was presented by former #SeeHer Award recipient Viola Davis. The awards ceremony took place last Sunday, January 6, 2019 and couldn't watch it live as now I live in a time zone that is deep-night when all American shows take place.   But I recorded the local version of the show and watch it yesterday only to find that show was more on the dull side than in the entertainment end of the scale. Sigh. Nevertheless there were a few (too-few) moments where winners and surely audiences (went back to check twitter -lol-) were really surprised as these journalist group behaved quite different from what cinema pundits were expecting and what film critics have been doing during the current award season.  That was what I found entertaining as jokes were too dumb or let's be kinder, not the kind of humor I enjoy which as many of you know, is dark, really dark humor.
