92nd Academy Awards International Feature Film Submissions

November 12 Update Seems yesterday Monday, November 11, the Academy notified the Austrian selection committee their verdict regarding the Austrian submission, Joy by Sudabeh Mortezai and it's bad news as AMPAS claims film dialogue is only 33% non-English. So it's the second disqualification and perhaps there could be more as news mention AMPAS is currently in the process of reviewing all the films submitted for current edition. With this disqualification tally goes down to ninety-one (91), one below the record established two years ago. Just noticed from the list below that there are 3 films strikethrough, two are disqualifications and one was not in AMPAS published list, but what's remarkable is that all three films are directed by female directors! I'm sure is just a coincidence but can't help from imagining the worst scenario, lol. 69th Berlinale Complete Lineup Final

Post is ready with all sections verified and yes, have read about each of below films. Festival has about 400 films and below list has most of them.  Sections listed with films have ALL films (features and shorts, if applicable) and Forum has some additional older films that interested me. There are many films that I'm looking forward to watch, which have exponentially increased my viewing queue, sigh.  No doubt this year Berlinale Competition is very interesting with films of well-known directors -which is always welcomed as believe newcomers should debut in fests other than-competitition sections, unless their film is outstanding... In about a week the fest will began and yes, I'm starting to feel sad as will miss Kosslick and his pleasant larger than life casual personality.  But will try to enjoy him for one last time during the festival.  Wonder if he leaves, will fun-to-watch (in a very dark way) Anke Engelke leave too?  The chemistry these two had was lik...

2020 BAFTA Awards Nominations

A few minutes ago the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced the nominations for the current awards edition honoring films released during 2019 and undoubtedly these are the first nominations that could give us a better predictor to Oscars nominations as are selected by the industry and not the press. The nominations were announced by BAFTA Chief Executive Amanda Berry along Ella Balinska and Asa Butterfield at BAFTA Piccadilly in London and at post end is the video with the announcement. This year there are 39 feature films honored with a nomination.  Joker leads the pack with 11 nominations followed by Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood and The Irishman each with 10, 1917 with 9 and Jojo Rabbit with 6; then with 5 each Little Woman, Marriage Story and The Two Popes.
